In 2023, the 130th anniversary of his birth will be celebrated by the outstanding Soviet historian Mikhail Jakovlevich Sjuzjumov (1893-1982). In recent years, interest in his scientific heritage in Russian historiography has increased significantly. This article is devoted to M. Ja. Sjuzjumov's scientific contacts with Perm historians L. E. Kertman (1917-1987) and V. T. Sirotenko (1915-2006). The author of the article in the State Archive of the Perm Region revealed an epistolary complex of nine messages addressed by M. Ja. Sjuzjumov to Lev Efimovich. In addition, two letters of V. T. Sirotenko to L. E. Kertman are installed in the GAPC. Most of the letters relate to a short, but very eventful period of time from October 1962 to April 1964. Professor Sjuzjumov's messages are of a businesslike, purely practical nature. They are a valuable source on the history of the development of historical science and education in the Ural region. This article completes the introduction to the scientific circulation of M. Ja. Sjuzjumov's correspondence with Ural historians in the 1960s and 1970s. According to the author, this period should be considered the heyday of historical science in the Urals. At this time, the activities of many talented historians fall, whose works are like flowers woven into an elegant wreath of glory of Soviet historical science. It should also be noted that documents from personal archival funds are important sources for scientific biographies of Russian scientists. The appearance of new works devoted to the activities of individual representatives of secular historical science should certainly be welcomed. However, we consider the division of Soviet historians into "metropolitan" and "provincial" to be unjustified. The insufficient use of unpublished archival documents characteristic of modern historiography leads to the loss of factual material, and its replacement with information from "absolutely reliable" memoirs of metropolitan academic figures of the 1980s and 1990s leads to distortion or mythologization of biographies of Soviet historians.
