The article considers the influence that Russia’s entering World War I had on public sentiments of Ural Region. The author demonstrates how conscious and spontaneous patriotism grew among representatives of different social classes; she also interprets the disorders among the reserve lower ranks, as well as the manifestation of pacifist and anti-war moods. The article reveals the basic ideas that conditioned the perception of the War by the educated part of society and shows the complex of ideas about World War I as a Second Patriotic War.
