The article presents the study based on oral histories of several generations of “Сhekist Town” in Sverdlovsk/Ekaterinburg. The authors explore practices of constructing reality and transformation of the human experience by living in a closed locus of the Soviet world. The aim was to identify and trace the transformation of the Soviet utopia as it was embodied in the residential architecture of constructivism, in the practices of everyday life of Ekaterinburg “chekist's town.”
