This article is based on research into «Socially oriented NKO Sverdlovsk region: problems and prospects for sustainable development», held in 2012 FGAO VPO «Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin» and NKO «Sverdlovsk Oblast Organization of Russian Youth Union» with the assistance of the Institute of philosophy and Law, Ural Branch Russian Academy of Sciences. Article contains aggregate data analysis of the current status of NKO in the Sverdlovsk region, obtained on the basis of personal and population survey of experts and expert interviews conducted in five towns of the Sverdlovsk region – G.G. Serowe, Kamensk-Uralsk, Alapaevsk Pervouralsk, Nizhny Tagil and Yekaterinburg.
