Three years ago in the frames of the competitiveness rise of universities program “5-100” the new scientific laboratory appeared. The investment was more than 10 million rubles in a purchase of equipment; thereby UrFU provided an opportunity for scientists to join an international project for studying processes of brain ’s growing and psychological processes of typically developing children, and also children with possible autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. About the issues of early development and upbringing of children we have decided to talk to Sergey Kiselev, the head of the laboratory, Candidate of Psychology, the head of the department of clinical psychology and psychophysiology of UrFU. Our guest has been engaged in this sphere more than 20 years. Answering the question concerning benefit and harm of developing programs for kids, S. Y. Kiselev has recalled about the research conducted by the Nobel Prize winner James Joseph Heckman. The scientist conducted the calculations concerning effect of investment of the same sum of money in people of various ages and came to the conclusion that the outcomes from investment decrease with rise of people ages. It means that investment in children of preschool ages has a greater effect in comparison with students. However the early development is a very versatile thing. The most part of the modern developing methods are aimed at not on harmonious development of a little kid but on formation of mechanical skills like reading. Today there are a lot of researches and an understanding how emotional, cognitive and motive spheres develop, but there isn t any complex and universal theory, S. Y. Kiselev believes. That is why all the modern methods of help and upbringing are not perfect; they develop something and hamper something. Taking into account all these facts our guest makes a conclusion for our journal “Discussion” that we mustn t bring up kids but follow development of kids and pay attention to what happens to them at any moment of their lives.
