The article contains empirical substantiation of the influence of the nature of the received information about migrants of different ethnicity on the attitude to them and migration issues in general. The author concludes that the media have serious impact on the formation of negative public opinion about foreign migrants. In conditions of the dynamic inflow of migrant workers from Central Asian countries it affects signifi cantly the adaptability of the Yekaterinburg residents to the new social situations.
