The paper considers the influence of accession to the World Trade Organization on the banking and insurance markets. We investigate the effect on ROE, ROA, the share of foreign capital in the market. The experience of Eastern Europe, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Romania, Poland and Estonia. Results of the study are compared with the prediction of impacts and the WTO on banks and insurance companies in Russia.
