A modern approach to understanding the concept of “quality education” is considered in the article. The structure of contemporary quality education as a multi-component unity is presented; there is a focus on the applied nature of the approach in question exemplified with teaching English at the University. Quality of education is regarded as a system of requirements of various educational process agents to the results of this process. The analysis of investigation of the “quality education” concept in general as well as “a foreign language quality of education” perception by two groups participating in the teaching process (subject teachers and language teachers) is presented. The main challenges of the new approach towards quality education in the framework of teaching English are described.
