One of the most important problems of older people is the organization of leisure time for grandparents in the conditions of their social isolation. Research hypothesis: grandparents who maintain an active lifestyle are more involved in the implementation of the functions of grandparental labor. Grandparental labour is understood as the activity of grandparents aimed at grand-children (childcare, development, and assistance to grandchildren), reducing the corresponding costs of parents for parental work. Research method: a sociological survey of grandparents who perform the functions of parental labor in relation to their grandchildren. The results of the study showed that active grandparents are less involved in the process of raising and caring for their grandchildren. Differences in the motives for the implementation of parental labor and its significance for them between groups of respondents according to the degree of activity were revealed. It has been suggested that the more active implementation of ancestral labor by grandparents, who noted employment in the garden as the main form of leisure, is associated with their financial situation. The results obtained can be used to develop measures for the development of social activity of the elderly.
