Influence of prolonged use of mobile audio devices on the 157 first-year students of Medical Academy aged 16–18 sharpness hearing had been investigated. Thresholds of hearing in the range from 125 to15000 Hz were measured by the method of audiometry. The young people previously had been answe- red questions concerning the frequency and duration of audio devices use. Statistical analysis of data allowed us to conclude that the intensive use of both devices significantly increases the value of hearing thresholds – the biggest change for more than 10 % of initial values were observed for high-frequency sound. Initial asymmetry of the auditory acuity of the right and left ear in all subjects from a group of people rarely use mobile audio devices was found. Thus the frequent use of a cell phone greatly increa- ses the difference between the values of hearing thresholds of right and left ear – increasing the scale of the asymmetry of auditory acuity. The results show a marked growth differences in hearing thresholds of the left and right ear in the mid and high frequencies for those who use cell phone frequently.
