The deformation behavior of dentin of intact human teeth has been examined under diametral compression in air, water, and 18% water solution of NaCl. It was found out that its behavior changed from quasibrittle under testing in the air to viscoelastic under testing in water and water solution of NaCl, while the main crack grew due to the merging of microcracks as it takes place in a viscoelastic solid.
