Comparison of the most widely applied advanced pyrometallurgical processes (Flash Smelting Outokumpu, Top Sub- merged Lance Technology (TSL) - Isasmelt и Ausmelt, El Teniente Converter, Mitsubishi Continuous Smelting, Vanukov melting, Flash Smelting + Flash Converting) with obsolete ones (reverberatory and shaft furnace melting) is performed. The results of calculations of energy expenditure for these processes are given. The most energy efficient and environmen- tally safe technology for the smelting of copper are revealed.
