The article examines the concept of health within the context of pre-revolutionary, Soviet and post- Soviet notion of it with reference to paremiological material. It is proved that the concept of health is a constant for Russian culture, as the phenomenon under consideration retains its cultural meanings throughout centuries, being modified depending on extralinguistic factors.
