The increase of drilling bits operational indicators is one of the decisive factors of reducing the cost of building mines for minerals extraction. The rocks destruction efficiency can increased by choosing the optimal configuration of hard-alloy inserts of pin type drilling bits. Real operational capacity is only determined during prolonged use of different models of drilling bits, with gradual averaging of the results. One of the designer tasks at the stage of the drilling bit development is to select hard-alloy inserts configuration (number, diameter), shape and installation angle, followed by testing to study the influence of the peripheral insert shape on the drilling bit soperational characteristics.
