The travel notes and travel memories as a source of analysis of the social space of Europe during the interwar period are discussed in the article. These literary and journalistic works allow to assess dynamically the socio-cultural situation that has developed in this period. Trubetzkoy, the dichotomous nature of social space of Europe in 1918-1939 years is demonstrated. On the one hand, it contains a desire to overcome the tragic existential experience and destructions of the First World War, and on the other hand - the inability to exclude memories and practices, for example, using various forms of leisure, one of which were travels.
