The article explores the artistic connections between the two artists. It offers the analysis of L. N. Tolstoy’s “Confession” as it was perceived by P.I.Tchaikovsky, whose philosophical, aesthetical and religious views were corresponding considerably to the writer’s views and moral principles. We explore the issues that deeply both L.N.Tolstoy and P.I.Tchaikovsky showed great concern about -those of the timeless problems of human existence (faith, God, good and evil, life, death and immortality). In conclusion the author marks out the close links between emotional, psychological, philosophical and religious quests of these two geniuses of the Russian culture.
