The article deals with the analysis of interdisciplinary cooperation phenomenon, causes of its appearance, tendencies of its evolution in the XXth century. The problem is considered in its connection with scientific paradigms, historiography trends, epistemological and intellectual challenges of that epoch. The paper also focuses on methodological principles, boundaries and conditions of the application of interdisciplinary approaches and methods.
