The paper is focused on the description of the concept HEALTH. The research aims at identifying the age-specific structure of the concept on the basis of an experimental study involving native Russian-speaking young people, students in Ekaterinburg. The study included 159 students, and 1168 responses were analyzed. The respondents were asked to comment on two imaginary situations with an intention to create their own explicative (explanatory) texts in their answers. We identified cognitive features using the method of cognitive interpretation. We summarized them as cognitive classifiers and ranked according to the brightness of their expression. The presented cognitive model of the HEALTH concept integrated ontological, axiological, imaginative, and interpretative characteristics of denotation. The respondents associated health primarily with vigorous physical activity, positive feelings, and good mood. The analysis revealed the existing consistent causal relationship of health and a healthy lifestyle, which we expressed as follows: “If there were no X, then there would be no P ”. In this case, X is a healthy lifestyle, P is a good state of a person. Health is programmed as a set of general but imperative recommendations on healthy lifestyle in the cognitive basis of the young people. Characteristics of health as the absence of disease are in the peripheral zone of the concept. The results of this study may be applied in the field of psycholinguistics and related disciplines, as well as in the practice of writing media texts on relevant topics for young people.
