Increasing the efficiency of using rolling rolls is one of the possible ways to reduce costs and improve the quality of finished products. One of the methods for increasing that efficiency is based on restoring the operability of rolling rolls using the latest trending technologies. Today, various technologies are known, among which CPC (Japanese method for surfacing with liquid metal), Spray (Anglo-American technology of spraying liquid metal onto a heated axle), HIP (hot isostatic pressing of powders onto a forged axle), LM ESS (electroslag surfacing with liquid metal) and banding methods could be distinguished. On the basis of morphological analysis, the banding method was chosen as the most rational for restoring the operability of rolling rolls of sheet mills. Taking into account modern requirements, fundamentally new designs of compound rolls have been developed, eliminating circular and axial displacement of the bandage relative to the bearing axis, even with minimal tension.
