The article describes the experience of the Department of marketing communications and branding UFU in terms of holding scientific conferences in the new format, which provides direct participation of the general public, business-community and authorities of a specific territory in the discussion of issues concerning the cities' promotion. The approach itself could be considered as the brand new one, in particular, - conducting of the meeting of University and city community representatives in the cities, focusing on issues of particular city's promotion.
