The results of physico-chemical studies of dunite to extract the magnesium and its compounds are presented. The atomic emission spectral analysis with inductively coupled plasma on the optical emission spectrometer is carried out. To determine the phase composition of dunite, we have conducted an X-ray analysis of samples using the unit RIGAKU Dmax-2200 in the range of angles at 22-75° and at an angular speed of scanning of 1 deg/min CuKa-radiation (40 kV, 30 mA ; A = 1,54056 A), and iR spectroscopic analysis. Experiments on the leaching of 20 % hydrochloric acid showed the use of dunite as a raw material in the electrolytic production of magnesium. The estimation of energy of crushing of the rocks is done. The research results show that the dunite can be considered as a promising raw material for the production of magnesium-containing commercial products.
