The article expands on some important aspects in the geometric shaping of regular discrete structures in different areas of design and architecture and outlines main promising directions for their development. The potentialities of algorithms for modeling different types of folded and lattice shells for different design objects are considered. A new method of folded shell form-generation based on inversion of the prototype form is proposed. Prospects for effective practical application of regular discrete structures as objects of modern technical aesthetics are outlined.
