Myth in the context of social regulation and cultural identity is analyzed in this article. Most researchers of myth prefer to accentuate out-moral status of myth, however these are social regulators and images which identify human being and culture in the context of actual mythology. In Russia the problem of finding roots for cultural self-identification seems to be a burning issue.
