The article discusses the main criteria for an optimal therapeutic environment and tendencies of sustainability in the architecture of medical institutions, the influence of architectural space on the condition of patients and staff. The aim of the study is to analyze the possibility and necessity of applying these principles in maternity wards. An example of world experience in designing modern maternity hospitals, perinatal and medical centers with a comfortable and healthy environment is given as an evidence base.
