The problems of preparing the melt in a melting furnace are considered. The study included modeling and analysis of the melt behavior in an induction crucible furnace. A method for acceleration of the melt mixing by changing the direction of electrodynamic forces through changing the power circuit of an inductor sectioned in height is proposed. The velocity field of metal movement and melt temperature distribution in the crucible are assessed for various options of feeding the inductor.
