The results of stereotypical opinions of young people about men who have served their sentences in correctional institutions are analyzed. The emphasis is placed on the fact that the appearance of stereotypes about prisoners is natural not only in the youth environment: the older generation, various professional communities, TV series, and mass media contribute to the formation of stamps. Imprisonment in places of deprivation of liberty naturally changes the personality. The former convicts form common natural features of responding to social situations, which are noted by people who do not have a criminal record. In a sample of 112 people aged 17 to 36, the most common patterns about former convicts are analyzed. It is emphasized that stereotypes complicate the further adaptation of prisoners in society, prevent the establishment of social contacts. Attention is drawn to the fact that psychological support and assistance from the state are necessary in overcoming difficulties after release.
