The article considers multifaceted creativity of Sergey Eisenstein - a recognized genius of the world culture of the 20th century. The author, analysing his fi lms, as well as the texts of the theoretical works of Eisenstein and other researchers, approaches the artist’s personality and creativity from two perspectives: as of great reform director, the creator of the language of “intellectual cinema”, and as the founder of the screen mythology based on political ideas of Revolutionary era.
