The article examines the issues of operational activities of self-regulatory organizations, taking into account information technology. In Russia, the sphere of information modeling of territories remains one of the most problematic. A large number of lacunae and collisions in the existing urban planning normative documentation negatively affects the possibility of creating high-quality models. In such conditions, an important role in the successful implementation of projects is played by the own technological developments of design organizations. In this area, we can note the project for the development of the territory of the city of Kronstadt, which created the Urban Planning Institute for Spatial Modeling and Development "Giprogorproekt" using a hybrid solution "BIM + GIS" based on Autodesk and ArcGIS software systems.
