This article discusses various approaches to solving the problem of automating the process of building information models quality control. The problem is relevant in connection with the need to create such models, which is adopted at the legislative level, and the appeal for these models to be error-free, meet the needs of the customer, and can be used at all stages of the building life cycle. Two main approaches to solve the problem of automation are considered: the use of ready-made information systems that work with building information models and the creation of proprietary software. The systems most commonly used in practice, such as Autodesk Navisworks, Solibri Model Checker, Allcheck, Revit Model Checker, RusBIMexpert, EXPRESS Data Manager, are considered as ready-made information systems. A comparative analysis of the functionality that these systems have, and which can be used to conduct checks that ensure the quality of models, is delivered. It is noted that most of these systems are foreign-made, many manufacturing companies have left the Russian market, in this regard, the use of these systems is questionable. More promising in today’s complex geopolitical conditions is the second approach - to create proprietary software. Two options for implementing this approach are considered: using one of the modern programming languages and working with the Dynamo visual programming environment. The first option is more flexible in use, but requires professional programming skills. The second has the advantage that by offering sufficient functionality to create specific checks, it does not require professional knowledge and skills in software development and can be implemented by the construction companies themselves, which have specialists in the field of information modelling technology.
