The article offers the interpretation of the notions of fear and recognition in philosophical tradition. The basis for the consumption practices is analyzed from the perspective of the struggle for recognition, which is presented in Hegel’s Phenomenology of Spirit. Desire, fear and struggle lie at the heart of these practices.
