The article regards business and personal ties of prince A.D. Menshikov in the context of the investigation of the Pochep case. By analyzing the epistolary sources, the author examines the mechanisms used by the prince to obtain support and intercession. Menshikov's ties with three groups of persons are considered in separated blokes: the Ukraine elite, members of the Senate and officials of the Foreign Collegium, as well as Peter I confidants who were formally or informally involved in the Pochep case (especially the head of Cabinet A.V. Makarov and the Empress Catherine). The author makes a conclusion about the role and effectiveness of Menshikov's business and personal ties established in the course of the Pochep case. It is also emphasized that these ties influenced the position of Peter I, whose final resolution was supposed to bring the trial to an end.
