The article deals with the metaphorical image of the law enforcement agencies in the oppositional discourse. The podcasts of the YouTube blogger A. G. Nevzorov of the period 2018-2022 were chosen as the practical material for investigation. The analysis of the material was carried out based on the method of metaphorical modeling. Cognitive-discursive analysis was used as the basic research approach. The blogger's speech is characterized by irony and sarcasm; he often uses extended metaphors and metaphorical chains. The dominant models include animalistic, theological and military metaphorical models. The analysis of semantic components has shown the presence of axiological asymmetry: the vast majority of metaphors actualize negative images of representatives of law enforcement agencies and construct and reinforce negative stereotypes in the mind of the addressee. By using expressive linguistic means, Nevzorov creates negative pejorative images the choice of which forms a negative attitude towards the police officers (gadflies, orcs, sadists, pithecanthropus, idiots, etc.). The metaphorical models considered express the semantic components of “unprofessionalism”, “cowardice”, “cruelty”, “stupidity”, and “impunity” of the representatives of the law enforcement agencies. Such metaphors are aimed at discrediting police officers and undermining the trust of the people in the police forces. The material under consideration allows asserting that by effectively using various language means, the leading role among which belongs to conceptual metaphor, the author destroys the positive image of the Russian police officers.
