OBJECTS. The paper deals with an intraday planning of microgrid and minigrid market strategy regarding different energy sources. METHODS. We compare distinguishing energy and flexibility sources using equivalent levelized cost curves. The developed models for the calculation of levelized cost curves of energy and flexibility sources take into account their purpose, operating principles and intraday operation mode. The models include lifetime prime cost of renewable energy sources that are the most appropriate energy sources for microgrids and minigrids. RESULTS. There is up to ten-time difference of grid prices between peak and off-peak hours when obtaining equivalent one-rate energy price for medium voltage grids. This difference provide a great potential to the development of distinguishing energy and flexibility sources at microgrids and minigrids. CONCLUSIONS. The paper shows that current energy sources cost prices level results in effectiveness of conventional generation during peak hours. In addition, wind power and battery energy storages attain a parity to grid prices. However, micro-hydro and solar photovoltaic power cost still not enough to beat the market effectiveness of centralised grid. microgrids and minigrids are still subject to purchase energy from centralised grid during off-peak.
