Scientific interest to megalopolises is objectively reasoned. The attention of researches is frequently drawn to studying the views, attitudes and orientations of various largest cities’ population groups. Many of them explained the impact of settler factor on the value orientations, including political ones. It is particularly important to study different aspects of political orientations among the youth aged 18-29 with the constitutional right to vote in modern Russian megalopolises, as political attitudes are reflected in the citizens’ specific political behavior, e.g. in electoral participation (nonparticipation) or certain political parties’ and candidates’ support. Although the megalopolis environment offers a certain unity of views the youth choice is differentiated depending on the age, income, status, education, etc. This is proved by some survey results provided by the authors after researching Yekaterinburg youth political attitudes and electoral participation. Electoral and ideological preferences are discovered and compared among the three age groups’ representatives (18-21 aged group, 22-25 aged group, 26-29 aged group) through their potential willingness to vote for a certain party (or its candidate), the real youth activity during the State Duma elections (September 18, 2016) and the actual results of the choice made in favor of particular political parties and candidates. In conclusion the urban environment factors, defining the young generation political orientations are grounded and classified.
