In this paper the pilot sample of electrodynamic separator with the two-sided linear induction machine for non-ferrous metals induction sorting is described. A mathematical model is presented for simulation of electrodynamic separator with the linear induction machine. The modeling of the interaction between the traveling magnetic field and conductive particles is complicated by the existence of several electromagnetical (in particular, traction and transversal) and mechanical (gravitational, frictional and etc.) forces. Separation is a result of the combined actions on conducting particles of several forces. The most important parts of the mathematical model of separator are the equations for the combined electromagnetical and mechanical interactions. The research results of the pilot sample of electrodynamic separator are described. The calculated resulting particle trajectories are compared to experimental data.
