The article deals with the nature of artistic representation of a national discourse in Boris Akunin's work. The literature project “The Adventures of Erast Fandorin” was used as a material for an in-depth and comprehensive analysis. The essays of the writer and his book “Love for History” were also included into the study. The main levels at which the problem is studied are the following: coherent world view (the system of national myth completion); subject-composition, based on the principle of not-recognizing and national misunderstanding of each other; characters and language, from the point of view of their origin / borrowed ethnical identity. Techniques that the author used to confront nations, by this revealing their unique identity as well as stereotypes, are revealed.
