The collective monograph is devoted to understanding the new cultural sit-uation, the distinctive feature of which is the transformation of the hierarchies that developed in the 20th century in the art world. This is especially notice-able in cinema art, where American and European cinema traditionally do-minate, acting as a center in relation to all other cinematography. The struc-ture of center – periphery is now complemented by the structures of global and local/regional. The local and regional artistic discourses rehabilitate the multiple voices of culture. The concept of the Other, which complements the local/global opposition, has allowed researchers to focus not only on geographic and spatial aspects, but to consider various versions of offshoots of mainstream narratives and dominant discourses in art. The articles define strategies, methods and approaches to the research of cinema and art in general in their local, regional and invisible mani-festations. The concept of the Other is comprehended not only in the spatial dimension (as a place), but also in the temporal one – as the «other» voices in a «different» time. The authors of the monograph are participants of the 4th In-ternational Scientific and Practical Conference «Place and Voice: From Global Trends to Local Practices of the Other in Art», held as part of the XVIII Inter-national Festival-Workshop of Film Schools «Kinoproba» on December 2, 2021. The organizerof the conference is the Department of History of Philosophy, Philosophical Anthropology, Aesthetics and Cultural Theory. The monograph brought together the studies of mature and young scientists from Ekaterinburg, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, and Iraq.
