IR-spectroscopic, X-ray diffraction studies of the initial magnesium nitrate hexahydrate, intermediate and final products of its thermal decomposition in air were carried out. Ther-mographic analysis made it possible to determine the main parameters and the mechanism of thermolysis of a given salt. Friedman's analysis shows the multistage process.
