The purpose of the article is to identify priority forms of social activity of young people in the process of forming a comfortable living environment. Results of monitoring of social orientations of youth made up the information base of the study. We conclude that young people as a whole are eager to participate in public and political activities, but the proposed conditions, social technologies and forms of participation in planning the development of the urban environment do not suit them.
