Nowadays, every one of us feels the need for safety. The consequences of the non-linear nature of social change are such negative social phenomena like consumerism, conformity, crime and others. Therefore, the most important area of a scientific research in the humanitarian sphere, in particular in the social science, are the theoretical issues of safety design and search for fundamentally new approaches to it. One such approach is the concept of a safety culture. This article offers the authors’ concept of a safety culture in the system of the culture of life. The authors provide a theoretical and methodological analysis of the concept of safety culture and the contradictions of social consciousness in relation to the safety problem. The research has established that the safety culture (which is usually interpreted as the relation to hazards and risks) opens new horizons for scientific research. As a methodological framework, the paper uses the logic proposed by Zh. T. Toshchenko (described in terms of the sociology of life) and the concept of essential powers by L. N. Kogan, to describe the safety culture in the system of life culture. Among the safety culture forming factors, the authors indicate subjectivity, ecological culture, as well as the features of the socio-political, socio-economic and socio-cultural environment where the subject implements their essential force during the social activities.
