The article assesses the performance of the banking sector of the Russian Federation, the main segments of the banking system. The modern tendencies of the sector development are defined, their reasons are formulated. Analysis of the state of the modern banking sector in Russia showed that, despite some negative trends, the system as a whole is quite stable, including due to the effective control of the mega-regulator.
