Measurements of a contraction ratio of rectangular copper wire in a rupture test have been carried out. Indices of the contraction ratio in width, thickness and area were calculated. It was found out that the index of the contraction ratio after rupture decreased when a ratio of sample width to its thickness increased. When changing the ratio of sample width to its thickness, the contraction ratio in thickness exceeds the contraction ratio in width by 15-47%.
