The approach is designed to create a system of ecological photo-monitoring using ground-based photos, and also a number of methods of collection, processing, analysis of images in a computer automated system. A prototype of Internetaware information system providing storage and representations of images and maps, as well as access to data and results of investigation for users with a wide range of specializations and qualifications is developed. An approach to the creation of a system of land ecological photo-monitoring, as well as a number of methods of data collection, processing, analysis of ground images is offered. The basis is the way to establish the relationship between land-based images and maps of the fragment (fragments of GIS layers). The proposed approach to the analysis of ground-based images, and report on them in the form of thematic layers allows us to develop a promising direction map-semiotics associated with the production of cartographic symbols to display on a map the changes set out in the course of a comparative analysis of repeated photographs taken from the same point shooting. For user access to terrestrial images and results of the analysis the prototype of Internet-oriented information system is created. It provides storage and submission of ground-based images and maps. It is formulated approach to the representation of objects on the map and characteristics of processes (in symbolic form) derived from the analysis of ground-based images and thematic GIS data layers.
