The article analyzes a concept of “information society’ and theories associated with it. The authors note the uncertainty of this concept and the presence of contradictions and utopianism elements in these theories. The paper highlights the key socio-cultural conflict, expressed by the opposition ‘real - virtual’, which penetrates all spheres of information society’s life.
