The article discusses historical and philosophical, ideological and political factors generating the crisis of rationality in the modern society. Prerequisites of this crisis are formed in the medieval West European philosophy. The philosophical irrationalism of the XIX century had impact on all the spheres of public life. The author considers the world crisis in education and the way of overcoming it, basing on the identity of the Russian culture.
