The article presents the results of the Middle Urals students' voluntary work analysis, based on the data monitoring of “Student 2012-2016” forum held by Ural Federal University for twenty years. The article presents the evaluation of changes in the volunteer community of students studying in different parts of the region, including the particularities and the character of their involvement. The authors analyze the economic, political and socio-cultural context of the Sverdlovsk Region youth's voluntary activity. The paper considers such institutional conditions, as regional youth initiatives support policy, events agenda, infrastructure changes in the third sector of the region, as well as actions taken by regional executive authorities in the implementation of youth policy in the region. The monitoring results point at a number of issues. One of them is a decrease in the popularity of volunteering among young people. In the Sverdlovsk Region universities the number of students involved in volunteering on a regular or part-time basis is decreasing. This may be happening due to the regional government mass volunteer movement orientation. Another problem relates the gender imbalance among student-volunteers and the increasing number of those young people who are not willing to take part in volunteer projects and make volunteerism part of their life. Based on the poll data, student-volunteers' motivation is also changing. Among the most important motives there are those of professional and personal development, which appear pragmatic in their nature.
