Based on the analysis of memories of Kurgan area residents, children who lived during the Great Patriotic War, the authors show the importance of preserving historical memory and its use in order to resist against the revision of the results of the Second World War which detracts from the great historical merit of the Soviet people in the struggle against fascism. The mechanism of ‘parallelization’ allows to update the patriotic youth beliefs.
