This research project has been supported by UrFU under the Framework Programme of development of UrFU through the «Young scientists UrFU» competition In the present research specific features of the biotechnology phenomenon were developed basing on its origination from such phenomena as technique and technology. The study was performed by means of etymological analysis of “technique”, “technology”, and “biotechnology” concepts and analysis of the existing conceptions of these phenomena.
