The article studies the criminal situation in the Russian Federation, which appears to be a significant problem today from the social point of view; the social rehabilitation of convicts is considered as a necessary factor of crime reduction. The author describes the role of the media in the social rehabilitation of convicts, provides a content analysis of media for convicts and mainstream media and studies the image of the convicts shaped by the Russian media.
