Clippings are linguistic factors. Their existence in the language is objective and quite natural. From the point of view of semantics, clippings are rather variegating. The relations of a prototype and a clipped word are extremely interesting. The meaning of a clipping may be identical with the meaning of a prototype. This research introduces an attempt to show semantic peculiarities of clippings with the help of method of field structures and to built a functional-semantic field.
